A Good Day

I had a great day in the studio at Morley yesterday with Brian McKenzie. I continued working with cardboard pop-outs from medication packaging, using them to create unique mono-prints. Each set is individually inked, wiped and arranged on the press; some with scored markings, others crumpled up or folded and then flattened out again. The first image used phthalo blue green and black ink. The second print used much more of the blue in the mix and the third introduced a silver metallic.

These images are some of the favourite prints I’ve produced so far. It’s a great feeling when everything comes together and you get a print that’s close to what you were hoping for. It reminds me of the quest for the perfect black and white print in the darkroom.
